How to Add a Favicon on Your Squarespace Website

A favicon is the small icon that appears in browser tabs, bookmarks, and shortcuts. Adding a favicon strengthens your brand visibility and makes your site easily recognizable.

Step 1: Prepare your favicon file

  • Use a square image, ideally 100 x 100 pixels or larger.

  • Formats supported: PNG, JPEG, ICO, or SVG.

  • Keep it simple and clear, as it will be very small in the browser.

Step 2: Log into your Squarespace account

Go to your Squarespace dashboard and select the site you want to edit.

Step 3: Access the Favicon settings

Navigate to Settings → Website (the first tab) → Favicon. This is the dedicated place in Squarespace to manage your site’s favicon.

Step 4: Upload your favicon

  • Click Add a Favicon or Replace Favicon if one exists.

  • Upload your prepared image.

  • Squarespace will automatically resize it as needed.

Step 5: Save changes

Click Save in the upper left corner to confirm your favicon. Once saved, it will appear in browser tabs and bookmarks shortly.

Bonus Tips

  • Test your favicon in different browsers and devices to ensure clarity.

  • Keep it consistent with your brand’s primary colors or logo for instant recognition.

  • Updating the favicon may take a few minutes to reflect across all browsers due to caching.
